Worst Cooks in America

Written by my friend Teodoro Martin

The Worst Cooks in America is a baking themed reality TV show on the Food Network. The show is in it's second season on Sunday nights. My roommate turned me onto the show last season and I was hooked. Even though I'm usually not a fan of cooking shows, I enjoy seeing the journey that these people take as they go from being unable to make macaroni and cheese to cooking elaborate four course meals. I was excited to learn there would be a second season and immediately set the DVR feature on my satellite TV from www.DIRECT.TV so as to not miss a single episode.

The show has twelve contestants split up into two teams. These two teams undergo a culinary school boot camp taught by two world renown chefs. One player from each team is selected to represent that chef in a culinary battle where the food critics believe that those two chefs are the ones doing the cooking.

It's a little disappointing to me that Chef Beau MacMillan doesn't return this season. The antagonistic, yet seemingly friendly relationship he had with Chef Anne Burrell was one of the primary reasons I enjoyed the 1st season so much. Chef Robert Irvine shows up in MacMillan's place in the 1st episode and I have to admit, he seemed rather dull. Hopefully he'll be more interesting as he gets more comfortable.
